Description

Pair of ornamental vases in cast iron with sheath from the Napoleon III period foundry of Val d'Osne. The pedestal-shaped vases are decorated with putto on the handles, lion's muzzles, bunches of fruit and fleur-de-lis on the body. The pedestal is gadrooned.

The sheaths are animated with masks, festoons, moldings and acanthus. Stamp of the Val d'Osne founder at the bottom of the sheath.

This pair is listed in several palaces, notably that of Biarritz.
